Vietnam Record and Archives Association

The Vietnam Record and Archives Association has been founded under the Decision 28/2001-QD-TCCBCP issued on 23/5/2001 by Minister-Chairman of Government Committee of Organization and Personnel and is a social professional organization representing Vietnamese individuals and organizations engaged in archives profession and other concerned branches. The Association’s aims are to assemble and unify members for exchange and dissemination of professional knowledge and experience, enhance professional capacity, coordinate with institutions and organizations engaged in archival profession to contribute to the development of Vietnamese archives in order to preserve safely and make effective use of national archival records for the national construction and defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Main functions and tasks - Assemble and unify members into archival activities; - Consult, make proposal, recommend and advise competent bodies of the Party and State in preparing, amending, supplementing and implementing legislative documents on archival work; - Provide advice on preservation and utilization of archival materials that are not subject to be transferred to National Archives, as well as private and personal archives, archives of families and family lines; - Reflect aspirations and expectations of its members to competent bodies; - Collaborate with other associations, institutions and organizations, individuals at home and abroad on the basis of equality and mutual benefit; - Publish newsletters, review, and other professional documents on archives work in accordance with the laws.
